Pag is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea. It’s known for its barren, moonlike landscape, lace production and Pag cheese. Pebble and sand beaches ring the island. The 15th-century Church of St. George was part of Pag town’s defensive walls. South of the modern town, Old Town Pag has an archaeological site and the ruins of a Franciscan monastery. To the north, Zrce Beach, in the town of Novalja, is a nightlife hub.
The barren stone landscape of Pag is also responsible for the island’s unique culinary success stories, namely Pag lamb and Pag cheese, which get their special flavour from natural spices like the bura wind, salt, and the sun. Pag lace is one of the most famous symbols of the island, a unique art form listed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
The island has numerous archaeological sites and historical landmarks that tell about the long past of the island, the world-famous Zrće beach is an ideal destination for all who love to party until the early morning hours, and those looking for a relaxing holiday will love the tranquil bays and the sounds of the sea.
Zrće beach is located to the southeast of Novalja and is a special story, and it is the most beautiful and most attractive of Novalja’s beaches. Its coastal part is a spacious pebbly area which at the height of the season can accommodate many thousands of bathers. Access to the sea is pebbly, and due to the steep drop to the sea bottom, the beach is extremely deep.
